I am Elena Skarpidou, an educator and facilitator of groups of adolescents, parents/caregivers and education and mental health professionals in Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE).

I worked as a secondary school teacher for 35 years and, since 1998, I have been voluntarily facilitating adolescent groups in Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) as part of an extracurricular educational program. This experience has reinforced my belief in the importance of creating safe and inclusive spaces where all students can feel safe, express themselves openly, and empower one another.

Since 2017, I have been a member and coordinator of the Education Division at Rainbow School, a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating discrimination related to sexual orientation, sex characteristics, gender identity, and gender expression within the Greek educational context. In this capacity, I have designed and developed training programs and authored educational guides and guidelines to support inclusive and non-discriminatory educational practices.

I have also participated in the writing teams of several national, European, and international training programs, primarily focused on CSE and LGBTQI+ rights, protection, and inclusion (Hombat, GEM, FAROS, VoiceIt, FREE-ALL, CSAPE, Amaze etc.).

I am also a founding member of Intersex Greece and a key collaborator of Synechises (Centre for Psychotherapy and Education)  and of Os Aido (NGO promoting Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) in collaboration with amaze.org).

I am a certified trainer of the National Centre for Public Administration and Local Government (Ε.Κ.Δ.Δ.Α.) –Training Institute (ΙΝ.ΕΠ.), and I have participated in the design, writing, and implementation of training material on “Ensuring equality and rights of LGBTQ+ people in the public administration“. I have also collaborated with public social protection institutions- ΟΚΑΝΑ (Greek Organization against drugs) and the National Centre of Social Welfare (Κ.Κ.Π.Π.Α.), Region of Attica and Kivotos tou Kosmou (NGO providing care and protection for mothers and children).

I am a Council of Europe-certified expert and educator on LGBTQI+ issues and a member of the World Association for Sexual Health (WAS).

I have also participated in several podcasts and given interviews on issues related to the necessity of CSE and inclusion. I have occasionally worked as a columnist and editor-in-chief for free press magazines and translated the book, “The Rich Boy and Other Stories“, by Francis-Scott Fitzerald, Erato Publications.

Finally, I am the creator of Project SecsWise, which includes both a digital app in English and Greek and a board game, designed as self-learning tools that make Comprehensive Sexuality Education accessible, engaging, and enjoyable through a playful and interactive approach.
